Winter Drop Off and Collection Routine

Icy conditions routine

Please pass this information to anyone who may drop off / collect children. Now that winter is approaching we will need to have a routine for dropping off when it is icy. Afternoon collection will not be affected (afternoons remain unchanged) but dropping off will be slightly different! On icy mornings use the gritted areas only and walk slowly on site.

On an icy day you will receive a text in the morning stating that we will have our icy drop off routine! Staff will also be outside helping to re-direct. If you don’t receive a text and staff are not re-directing then it is the usual routine for dropping off. This routine is only for icy mornings only. Remember to always walk on site and only walk on the gritted pathways.

If you receive a text and staff are outside re-directing then the following procedure must be followed:

Breakfast Club

Enter through the Junior door – opens at 8.10am and last entry is 8.35am. Wait in the Year 3 and Year 6 waiting area. Breakfast club staff will be at the Junior door.

Nursery

No change. Walk down to the Nursery gate and drop off like you do now.

Reception

Walk to the front yard and line up on the front yard. Staff will come out to collect children between 8.50 and 9.00am. Please do not play on the yard as although it will be gritted there may still be icy patches. Please wait on the yard until staff arrive. Staff will come back and forth to collect children. Please bear with us!

Year 1

Drop off at the class door but do not walk down the drive and across the Astro. Walk directly to the door by walking in front of the main entrance. Stay right and walk past any queuing people. Drop off and then exit the way you came in.

Year 2

Walk to the front yard and line up on the front yard. Staff will come out to collect children between 8.50 and 9.00am. Please do not play on the yard as although it will be gritted there may still be icy patches. Please wait on the yard until staff arrives. Staff will come back and forth to collect children. Please bear with us!

Year 3 – (both classes)

No change – Line up in the usual area and staff will direct children into the building through the Junior door.

Year 4/5 J, H and T (all classes)

Line up in the middle of Year 3 and Year 6. There will be a board for children to wait behind. Do not walk to the classroom doors. Staff will direct children into the building through the Junior door. Please drop off at the main gates rather than walk in with children. This will reduce congestion.

Year 6

No change – Line up in the usual area and staff will direct children into the building through the Junior door.

I understand it will be busy and there will be more people around. In fact there will be much more congestion but I must try and get all children into school safely, in separate groups whilst also looking after anyone who is on site!

It is really important to wear a face covering especially if there is more congestion on site, please do so and create as much space as possible between you and others.
